With only minimal retention of hardness ions such as calcium and magnesium, this package is ideal for drinking water production from surface waters. CRP also removes color and organics from industrial (textile) wastewater.

typical use

The Color Removal Package (CRP) ensures removal of all particulate matter, including colloids, bacteria, viruses and Cryptosporidium and Giardia oocysts, based on properties such as molecular size, shape and charge polarity. The CRP’s effluent is therefore completely free of any particulates, rendering a superior water quality. Enabling single-step safe potable water production, CRP operates virtually free of chemicals. The concentrate can be safely discharged back into the environment without additional treatment since it only contains the concentrated organics present in the feedwater. As the nanofiltration membranes do not concentrate inorganics such as salts and minerals, there is no scaling and no need for anti-scalants. 

The high permeability of the CRP membranes and the excellent cleanability allow for very low energy consumption.

Vertically positioned X-Flow HFW1000 nanofiltration membrane modules are the core of CRP. The fiber is specifically designed to remove organics from surface water, and combines high chemical resistance with the organics retention of spiral-wound nanofiltration. The membranes are operated inside-out, do not require pretreatment other than a 300 micron safety screen, and can be directly fed with raw surface water.

Fields of application

Color Removal Package is a chlorine-tolerant backwashable nanofiltration system used for the production of process and potable water. Typical applications are the filtration of surface water and groundwater, potable water and WWTP effluent to remove color components (typically humic or fulvic acids), with minimal salt retention. 


CRP can act as a single-step potable water production process from (surface) water high in color of organics.
