Aquaflex High solids

The Pentair X-Flow Aquaflex High Solids solution uses hollow-fiber or tubular ultrafiltration for direct filtration of high solids (algae) and disinfection. In contrast to traditional technologies, Aquaflex membrane elements can produce reusable water in a single process step. The package removes >99.99% of viruses (log 4) and >99.9999% of bacteria (log 6).

  • Simple single-step process (instead of DAF followed by UF)
  • Lower OPEX (energy and personnel)
  • Less use of chemicals
  • Easy to adapt to changing feed water quality
  • Possibility for an inline integrity test

typical use

The High Solids Package is used to remove high concentrations of solids in municipal drinking water production, and in industries for the production of process or product water from various feedwater qualities. The package consists of sets of ultrafiltration membrane modules operated in dead-end mode to produce high-quality effluent from feedwaters with TSS up to 1000 ppm.

The dead-end filtration mode delivers results with very low energy consumption (<0.1 kWh/m3).

With carefully selected partners, Pentair develops innovative and ready-to-use membrane installations that meet both regulatory and financial KPIs. The Pentair scope consists of X-Flow membranes, engineering, commissioning and process optimization.

As one of the world’s foremost membrane technology knowledge centers, we share our scientific know-how and practical experience with our partners to make the difference in challenging filtration projects.

Fields of application

The High Solids Package can be used for surface water, tertiary effluent and lagoon water to remove suspended solids. The package offers the solution to the problem of monsoon rains and other situations that create high peaks in turbidity. The package is also a perfect solution for wastewater treatment, when suspended matter is above 200 ppm.

The system is widely applied in municipal and industrial markets, including Food & Beverage, mining, power, and agriculture.
